This was my first time in the Wisconsin QSO party. I had a great time!! Equipment was QRP kit by Wilderness Radio - 4.5 watts on 40 meters and 3.5 watts on 80 to a G5RV - KA1DDB

Just want to let you know that I was very pleased with the contacts I had on CW during the WI QSO party. What a nice party, lots of mobile ops. 15 meter not too good first hour. Few stations there so switched to 20 meters early. Made about 40 contacts with 20 new counties. Had to stop at 2300Z but band was closing here anyways - PA3ARM

Worked as a portable operation from 8th floor, Phoenix Park Hotel,in Washington, DC - N9TRK/3

Seemed to be quite a lot of activity. Lots of mobile stations for sure. Unfortunately, I only had 2 hours & 45 minutes to operate - NA3V

Had a head cold that stopped up my eustachian tubes so was stone deaf in one ear and half-dead in the other. I now really appreciate the old saying " you can't work 'em if you can't hear em " !!! Propagation seemed ok. Never worked a WI mobile - guess it's hard to get the right gain and beam angle from a moving whip. Was interested to hear the naval vessel " Wisconsin " operating from VA. Might be interesting to add them as a bonus contact for 2002 - N4IOZ

Last year we missed only Menominee County. This year we missed TWO ( Marathon and Waushara ) - ugh - always next year. It would be very helpful if mobiles would sign "/" their county ( like " /EAU" ) when they call. We did not know without listening for sometime and did not want dupes - W0AIH/9, KB9S, KI0F, KF0T, K0NY, KB0THN, KG0KM, K9CYF, KB9AZZ and KB9YFQ team

This was the first year participating. We had a great time. The contest ran very smoothly and was full of excitement. Our team - Norm KB9QL did all the driving, Joseph AA9DO did all the logging and Alan N9MGK did all the operating. Using a spider multi-band mobile antenna with an AH-4 tuner, we were able to get great contacts. When needed we clipped a 50 foot wire to the antenna which boosted the signal by 7 DB. For logging, an AC inverter was used to run the computer from the vehicle power. This was the first time for all of us running the contest mobile, and after doing it, we think it is the only way to go. Already planning the setup for next year - AA9DO, KB9QL and N9GMK team.

Thanks to all, this was our best yet. Glad to see many out-of-state regulars on the air - N9EZ and N9KS team.

Nice job on getting the great weather and good road conditions ( at least in the southern part of the state ) for the contest. Lost my driver at the last moment, so had to do county hopping, but still lots of fun. The short format is perfect, but perhaps another hour would open up 80 meters for more contacts. Once again I operated from the lake place in Douglas County. This year I raised the main antenna (130 foot zepp with tuned feeder) way up to 35 feet and it worked much better. VERY glad to see the power multiplier - it should help my field day type operations. The 40" of snow on the ground made this a lot of work - N0IJ/9

MANY thanks to all the mobile stations for putting all those counties on the air, and for operating MY favorite mode ...CW ! Had a bunch of fun working some old friends and making some new ones. A suggestion for mobile ops - you might want to consider appending your callsign with the standard 3 letter abbreviation for your county instead of the generic "/M", so that the "hunt and pounce" ers like me can recognize a duplicate QSO immediately. My appologies to TZE for the duplicate QSO on 80 - AA9KH

A fun contest for a mobile operator, especially when the weather cooperates as it did this year. A suggestion - the mobile operators should sign "/M", the operators from other call areas should sign "/9" and the portable operators should sign "/P" - NN9K

This year I achieved my goal of putting Green Lake County on the map ! Hope to see everyone next year - KB9KEG

Found out the morning of the contest that the "outbacker" antenna did not want to load up on 20 meters anymore. We probably missed a lot of state mults because of that. Had a great time anyway. Wall-to-wall activity for 7 hours. Congrats on sponsoring a terrific event - K9LY and WB9IFE team.

Had a great time operating across the border this time. Set up antenna using a bow and arrow, put the rig on stacked up dock sections, and enjoyed the fantastic weather day. I did get a little cold towards the end of the contest as the sun set. I plan on the same trip for next year, maybe 2 counties, as I get better at "shooting the antenna" up into the air. 73 - WA0MHJ/9

I only operated 10 and 15 meters in an effort to finish up my 5 band WAS during this cycle, which resulted in only one Wisconsin county worked ! I did succeed in contacting 2 new states on each band - now to pursue the cards. I would like to recommend a change such that contacts on the 2 meter FM calling frequency of 146.52 and the guard frequencies of 146.55 and 146.505 are not used - KB9Q

Our mobile effort was going along pretty smoothly until our resonator broke off in Juneau County around 2300Z !! Loaded the mast through a tuner for our last 5 counties, but our 40 per county rate dropped and we scrambled to make the minimum 12 contacts for the last 5 counties. Some year everything will be right !!! - NE9U and N9BCA team.

Excellent activity, especially on CW. Usual antenna problems - very weak on 80 which is usually a source of lots of mults. Worked 10 DX stations. Best QSO party around - WI9WI

Could hear many WI stations but they could not hear me. Ones I contacted said I had a good signal. Unusual conditions. Very poor results this year - W0EBA

Sorry for the "cheap" log. I had planned on working a few WI stations but activity was so good I stayed. Picked up 5 new counties. 73 - K0JPL

This is the first contest I have really spent some time at. Even though it was less than 2 hours, I really had fun. I have been having trouble with my 10, 15 and 20 meter dipole this winter and I could only be heard using my 40 dipole. No logging software either. Next steps, a better antenna from AES and logging software - N0PPF

Thanks again for this years event. In terms of my mobile logging capability, I was happy with the results this time out. Still quite a marathon for me though - never stopped for fuel - had to fix an antenna twice. I drove 360 miles this time out and made 11 counties on schedule. Will have a personal best for the effort. Good news/bad news - the antenna worked well (more contacts this year with less power than in 2000) but my 8 foot whip on top of the screwdriver was probably more than the design could handle and started to crack at the base. After returning from Pierce County, all of the screws at the bottom broke and I had to operate stationary in Buffalo County the last 20 minutes. Looking forward to next years event - KF0Q
